This is such a tranquil place for half day visit. Entrance was easy,with no queues. Architecture was beautiful old stone with quiet walkway along cloisters. Signage was minimal, so didn’t distract from experience. I found the exhibits had good information. Particularly liked textile work and outdoor installations.

The Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo (CAAC) is housed in the former Monastery of La Cartuja in Seville, a site with a layered history dating back to the 15th century. Originally a Carthusian monastery, it later became the Cartuja ceramics factory, playing a major role in Seville’s industrial and artistic production. From a contemporary art perspective, the CAAC offers a compelling contrast between historic architecture and modern artistic practice. Its exhibitions often focus on international and Andalusian artists, addressing themes such as identity, politics, memory, and social change through installation, video, sculpture, and conceptual work. Highly recommended for those interested in contemporary art. It is also a great study in re-purposing a beautiful building to support the arts.

CAAC is such a great surprise in Sevilla. The setting alone is worth the visit, a beautiful old monastery with peaceful gardens and plenty of space to wander. The worn, faded charm of the building juxtaposed with eighties modern interventions works brilliantly and gives the place a really distinctive feel. The Show Amefrica exhibition was insightfully curated and really rewarding to spend time with. Calm, spacious and very different from the busy centre. Definitely worth the trip across the river.

Fascinating place, combination of religious & industrial history. Very open uncrowded feel due to the scale of the place. All the more interesting due to being away from the standard Seville sights. The art was a bit hit & miss but the real stars are the buildings & gardens. Probably could make more of those with more outdoor art & sculpture.

Beautiful, relaxing place on a large site. Lockers for small bags, plenty of toilets. Entry was 1€60 and would definitely recommend.
